American Idol
Hollywood Week 2

Original Air Date: Feb 6, 2014

Patricia Morris Buckley — Sr. Staff Writer

Tonight the judges promised they are going to cut half of the 100. They lied. At the end of the hour-long continuation of the Hollywood Week, there are 77 contestants moving on.

As expected, some groups were really good and some killed their song, and not in a good way. Here are how some of the groups did.

Three Mo Days – (made up of Hollywood Week veterans) David Oliver Willis, Tony Foster, Jr., Sarina Joi Crowe. They start off well with tight harmonies and good solos. David and Sarina move on.

Backstreet Cowboys – Casey Thrasher, Dexter Roberts, Ben Briley. Great harmonies! So-so solos. Great final moment with slipping into harmonies. Very entertaining. All go through.

Freedom Readers: Matthew Hamel, CJ Harris, Tyler Ahlgren (forgot words) and Caleb Johnson. Caleb dominated. No harmony. Tyler and Matthew head home.

(Didn’t catch the group name.) Nica Nashae, Stephanie Hanvey, Cara Watson, Jessica Meuse. This group had so many problems. Jessica had already left another group, and she didn’t fit in well with this one. Stephanie’s mother seemed to take charge and continued to hog the camera down to the bitter end. But Jessica couldn’t remember the words to three lines of “Put a Ring On It”? Things got very nasty when Stephanie was booted. I don’t know if Jessica is a drama queen, but the stage mother tried to outshine her young daughter – and that was just wrong.

Love’s Angels: Terrica Curry, Carmen Delgina, Emmanuel Zidor. Only Emmanuel moved forward.

Loud and Fierce: Christina Collins, Olivia Diamond, Queen Bulls, and Malaya Watson sang a Jackson 5 song. To all four, JLo said, “I Want You Back.”

Also making it through: Necco Starr, George Lovett, Paula Hunt, Andrea Brogden, MK Nobilette, Briana Oakley, Barady Nealy, Kenzie Hall, Spencer Lloyd, Megan Miller (forgot words), Jena Ascuitto, Sikenya Thompson (who lost her voice and refused to rehearse, but still got through), Savion Wright.

But we said good-bye to: Alyssa Siebken, Madison Walker, Keith London (I liked him!), Austin Precarillo, Adam Roth, Tiquila Wilson, (who decided the competition wasn’t for her), Tyler Ahlgren, Matthew Hamel, Allie Odom, John Fox.

Next week, more singers are cut. Will it be one of your favorites? Do you have a favorite? How would you have handled Stephanie Hanvey’s stage momster? Give us your TwoCents…
