According to various sources, Dexter Morgan’s latest adversary has been cast. John Lithgow, who most may remember from the popular television show, 3rd Rock from the Sun, will play Walter Simmons. Showtime’s press release describces Simmons as “an unassuming, mild-mannered suburbanite who has been living a dual life as one of America’s most prolific and deadliest serial killers.” Gee, that doesn’t sound familiar …
Simmons has been called the “Trinity Killer” because he likes to kill in threes. In a special treat, Keith Carradine returns as FBI Special Agent Frank Lundy, it seems that over the summer he’s tracked down Trinity all the way to Miami.
Dexter is, of course, brought on to help with the case (he is the most top-notch Forensics Blood Splatter Analyst after all) and he becomes enthralled with Trinity’s killing methods, and most importantly, the fact that he has been killing for almost three decades with no one bothering him.
It seems like the show’s fourth season, which is set to premiere on September 27th, is going to be pretty darn-tootin interesting. Will Dexter learn a thing or two about keeping his secret alive and thriving for the rest of his life? Or will he just see what could happen to him if The Trinity Killer should be captured? Will Walter Simmons move in next door to Dexter and Rita? Also, with the return of Frank Lundy, what’s going to happen with Deb and Anton? Personally, I would much rather that she stick with the sexy informant, than return to sorting out her daddy issues with an older man.
