What a treat! We just said good-bye to Face Off All Stars about a month ago and now we have a new season. And some new rules.
As McKenzie explained, this season the contestants are divided into two “shops” that compete against each other. Each week, they elect a shop foreman to coordinate efforts (and to be an automatic fall guy if anyone messes up!). They also have to name their shop. Both teams select a foreman who’s already run a shop.
Twisted Six Effects: Foreman- Al. Team – Laura, Jill, KC, Phil and Laura.
Ethereal Effects: Foreman – Andrew. Team –Nelson, Joseph, Faina, Suzanne and Kierstin.
This week’s challenge is three werewolves – an alpha, beta and omega. McKenzie lets them observe real wolves and use their wolf’s coloring as an inspiration for their pack.
Perhaps because we’ve just come off the All Star challenge, it seems like there are many contestants who aren’t that talented. Laura of the neon green hair doesn’t get basic anatomy – and doesn’t fix it when she’s told that. Heck, there’s even a skeleton hanging in the workroom! Al’s team is really far behind and he doesn’t seem to be pushing them to speed up. Nick’s omega looks more rat than wolf.
Despite some mask-like work and too dark painting, Ethereal Effects easily takes the challenge and Joseph wins for the superior sculpting of his omega. And that puts Al, Nick and Laura at risk. And really, that’s a pretty obvious choice as well as Laura’s pitiful sculpting of ribs gets her the boot.
Hopefully, now that the contestants have a week under their belts, they’ll step up the pace and the quality. Is Joseph now a favorite to win? Will you miss Laura’s eye-piercing locks? Is it fair to hold the foreman extra responsible without a reward for a job well done? Give us your TwoCents…
