Good news for The X-Files fans!
After months without any news aside from talks about potential return, Fox made it official as it announced that the sci-fi series will be returning for an 11th season with a 10-episode order.
Chris Carter will return as executive producer along with series stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny.
“Iconic characters, rich storytelling, bold creators – these are the hallmarks of great TV shows. And they are some of the reasons why The X-Files has had such a profound impact on millions of fans worldwide,” said David Madden, President, Fox Broadcasting Company. “Chris’ creativity, along with the brilliant work of David and Gillian, continue to propel this pop culture phenomenon, and we can’t wait to see what fresh mysteries Mulder and Scully uncover in this next chapter of The X-Files.”
Production on the new batch of episodes will begin in the summer of 2017 with the show’s return to set for some time in the 2017-2018 season.
Considering where the show left off and the odd story the event series last year tried to tell, it should be interesting to see where the show will go.
