Superheroes were everywhere this past TV season. One of the more popular takes on the superhero was FOX’s Gotham – the story of what Gotham was like, BEFORE Batman was keeping the streets safe.

“Before there was Batman, there was Gotham City. Everyone knows the name of Commissioner Gordon, but what of his rise from rookie detective to Police Commissioner? What did it take to navigate the layers of corruption in Gotham City, the spawning ground of the world’s most iconic villains? Gotham tells the story of the world’s most iconic DC Comics Super-Villains and vigilantes from the very beginning, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told.”

Recently I found the The Complete First Season of Gotham in my mailbox and popped it right into the Blu-Ray player!

As anyone who has already watched the series would do, I immediately went to the special features and Warner Brothers and DC packed a lot of Gotham Goodness into this set.

We have some behind-the-scenes type specials – one of my favorites is “Designing the Fiction”. It’s a great piece about how the look and feel of the show came to be – and evolve.

See what it was like at Comic-Con 2014 on DC Comics night – spoiler – it’s NUTS!

A little cross-promotion lets us see some cool things featuring The Flash, Arrow and Constantine as well as Gotham.

And of course, who doesn’t love a Gag Reel? I especially enjoy them from shows that are serious in nature – seeing the cast and crew find levity is always fun to watch.

I never quite understand the “un-aired” scenes. Most of the time they are cut for time and deemed not necessary by the creators of the show. For this set, there is nothing too huge in these scenes, just more ‘color’ for a lot of the episodes.

Yes, the series is good and on Blu-Ray it’s a beautiful thing to watch.

You can own it on Blu-ray, DVD & Digital HD September 8, 2015. If you pick up a copy – let me know your thoughts. Ready for Season 2? Share your TwoCents and make some bold predictions in the comments below!
