After a long day of school and work, it’s always nice to come home to a hilarious episode of Modern Family, and this week was no exception. It’s nice to be able to count on Cameron and his gaiety, Gloria and her Colombian nature, and Phil with his quirky parenthood style. This show is definitely a great way to celebrate the middle of the week.
Claire and Phil are having problems with two of their kids…Hayley and Luke; what else is new? Luke has a huge project due the next day that he didn’t tell his parents about, and Hayley has 40 cupcakes to make for a fundraiser. Claire decides to tell Phil to keep an eye on Luke until he finishes the project, and she was going to help Hayley make the cupcakes. Phil decides to try something new, allowing Luke to have his own opportunity to do the project, without standing over him. Claire seems to think that this is a horrible idea, and is working step-by-step with Hayley. Phil ends up getting way too distracted, and leaves Luke alone in his room to work. Claire finds out that Phil has left Luke alone, and starts yelling at him. Shortly after, Luke arrives in the kitchen with a completed project, and Claire is overwhelmingly proud of him. It’s then that she decides to throw away the cupcakes that she made for Hayley and forced her to make them herself. Hayley works hard, and has her family taste them. They end up being horrible, and Claire realizes that she should’ve have allowed Hayley to do it herself.
Mitchell and Jay are going to see a meteor shower together, and Jay invites Manny with them. Mitchell is upset by this since astronomy is their thing, and Manny keeps poking fun at him. Jay says that this is what brothers do! While in the wilderness, Mitchell gets sprayed by a skunk, and has to change. The only thing he could find in the car was one of Gloria’s dresses! HOLY COW, THIS WAS HILARIOUS!! It turns out, Manny is being made fun of at school, and Jay invited him since Mitchell would be the one to cheer him up. It was very nice to see these two brothers get along.
Gloria and Cameron go out for dinner together. Cameron accidentally offended Gloria a few weeks before by mentioning Columbia University and Brown University. He said something along the lines of “the Brown people should go back to Columbia” or something like that, and Gloria took offense to it. Cameron and her end up going to a Mexican restaurant for dinner, and both of them order a very spicy dish. It happened to be too spicy for Cameron, and he ran out of the diner complaining about a burning mouth! It was great! Once they got outside, they notice that the tires on his car were stolen. It was a great bonding experience for the two of them.
I love this family! Each week, they are awesome, and they give me something to look forward to! What did you all think of this episode? Leave your TwoCents in the comments, and I’ll see you all next week.
