TwoCentsTV News Round-Up: Weeks of March 23 – April 5

Heroes RebornWelcome to TCTV’s weekly TV news Round-Up! There’s been a bit of news in that last two weeks, and since we’ve hit the beginning of pilot season, sometimes we can’t get to every single piece.

So, here we have some interesting bits of casting and production news, teasers, renewals, cancellations, and trailers for some of your favorite shows and some that might make you want to watch.

  •  Smash‘s Krysta Rodriguez will be offering some perspective on things for April when Chasing Life returns next season. According to Variety, Rodriguez, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, will be playing fellow cancer patient, Vanessa.
  • Hiro Nakamura is coming back! Masi Oka has signed on for Heroes: Reborn, according to Variety. Oka joins original series cast member Jack Coleman as well as new additions, Zachary Levi, Robbie Kay, and others. The mini-series is set to premiere this fall.
  • ABC Family has ordered Shadowhunters straight to series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Shadowhunters is based off of Cassandra Clare’s The Mortal instruments series, which was previously adapted to film in 2013.
  • ABC may be bringing the Muppets back. According to Entertainment Weekly, the network has ordered a pilot presentation with Big Bang Theory‘s Bill Prady attached to the project.
  • SyFy will be trying out talk shows again. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network is working with Nerdist’s Chris Hardwick and Brandon Monk to develop a half-hour weekly news series that will cover all things media, technology, sci-fi/fantasy, science, among others.
  • Scandal‘s Brandon White will be paying a visit to another ABC series this summer. According to TVLine, White has joined Mistresses as Blair, the headmaster at April’s daughter’s school, and a potential love interest for April.
